This special edition of our PS blog brings you up to date on the Scoping Study Research led by Contemporary Christianity, in partnership with Youth Link NI and Clonard Monastery and invites you to join us for the launch of the Report.

Background: Although Northern Ireland has made significant progress towards a peaceful society since the Good Friday Agreement, entrenched divisions remain across social, economic, and psychological lines. The diminishing interest from faith communities and the waning focus on reconciliation and good relations / social cohesion in policy and policy discussions (as well as wider society) highlight a worrying lack of momentum.

Over the past six months, Contemporary Christianity, in partnership with Youth Link NI and Clonard Monastery, has convened eight workshops with young people, faith leaders, and interfaith participants, to explore the future of community relations and reconciliation work in Northern Ireland.

Following these workshops, a full Report has been prepared. Its findings suggest that while commitment to reconciliation remains strong, current approaches can feel fragmented, unclear, or disconnected from lived experience. The Report identifies five key shifts that may be needed to renew reconciliation and community relations work.

The next stage is a public launch event, with a number of contributors sharing the findings and insights from the study. There will be time for reflection, responses, and discussion around the key shifts identified.
